Eaton PRIDE

Eaton PRIDE fosters inclusion, understanding and awareness for LGBTQ+ employees and allies — promoting education and engagement, as well as offering a supportive community.

Empowering LGBTQ+ employees with an inclusive workplace

As one of our Inclusion Eaton Resource Groups (iERG), Eaton PRIDE provides a safe, supportive and confidential space for LGBTQ+ employees and their allies to foster equality and diversity in the workplace.

We believe diverse people fuel our innovation and sustainable growth. When everyone feels empowered and welcome, we can innovate faster, collaborate better, and reach our full potential as both individuals and a company. This outlook also helps us attract, retain, and engage talented people from around the world.

Eaton PRIDE strives to create an inclusive environment where everyone is valued by offering education and support around key LGBTQ+ issues — taking a bold approach to ‘taboo’ topics. Its vision is for everyone to be accepted as their authentic selves through greater understanding and awareness.

Fostering diversity and inclusion in the workplace

Operating worldwide, PRIDE is global in scope and local in execution. While our PRIDE chapter in EMEA is fully integrated with the diversity and inclusion policy set by our Global and Regional Inclusion Councils, the group is responsible for identifying and prioritizing local initiatives.

By joining Eaton PRIDE, employees can connect, share experiences, and work together to promote LGBTQ+ issues and interests. The group also fosters education, awareness and engagement — hosting activities on many international celebration days, as well as discussion events, sensitivity training sessions, and more. Read on for some examples of these activities from across EMEA.

Student PRIDE UK

The iERG PRIDE advocated for Eaton to sponsor Student PRIDE UK — a major student recruitment fair where companies that support the LQBTQ+ community can showcase their career opportunities to diverse graduates. We are proud to say that Eaton is now a Silver sponsor for Student PRIDE UK.

PRIDE Run Vienna

Our team in Austria recently came together to support a Rainbow Run as part of Vienna Pride 2021. Our employees ran 5km or 10km to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community, to create awareness around key issues, and to raise money for relevant charities. Despite the challenges of holding this event during the COVID-19 lockdown, our team supported each other virtually as they ran in their own separate locations. Everyone did a fantastic job — with one of our colleagues named an overall winner for the quickest completion time!

Discussions that matter

A core focus for Eaton PRIDE is on creating a safe space to discuss topics affecting the LGBTQ+ community. As well as hosting frequent employee events, the group also regularly invites external guest speakers to share their opinions, insights, or research.

We recently hosted Dr. Helena Van De Bovenkamp, an ambassador for Think with Pride Saxion and a member of Workplace Pride. As part of PRIDE Month celebrations at Eaton, Helena shared the story of her transition and the impact it had on her personal and professional life.
“I’m proud to contribute to a business where LGBTQ+ people are given equal opportunities, are encouraged to make difference, and feel empowered to be who they really are. At Eaton, our strength lies in our diversity and we live by these words every day.”
Karolina, service marketing manager, EMEA

      Committed to making a difference

With more than 9,500 members across 60 countries, our eight iERGs bring together employees who share a common purpose, interest or background. Whichever iERG our employees choose to support, they can play a crucial role in helping us identify priorities, run projects, recruit new talent, and drive meaningful change.

Expanding our iERGs is one of our strategic priorities for inclusion and diversity. They are pivotal to helping us embrace the power of many perspectives to drive innovation and sustainable growth that benefits our people, investors, customers and communities.
