Understanding your Eaton UPS warranty | serial number lookup

Keeping your warranty information on-hand for your battery backup is a best practice we highly recommend. If you aren’t sure about your Eaton warranty coverage, please refer to the tips below.

1. Register your UPS

Registering your UPS will confirm your standard warranty and give you opportunity to extend your warranty. Extending your warranty may include UPS and battery coverage, 24x7 telephone tech support, overnight shipping of replacement units to you, and freight costs for replacement and return of defective unit covered by Eaton. Lastly, a benefit to registering your product will be that you are notified of important firmware updates

If you would like to register your Eaton UPS, visit the product registration page below.

2. Understanding Eaton warranties

Eaton UPSs (with VRLA batteries) are covered for 2 or 3 years under the standard warranty agreement. Lithium-ion UPSs up to 3 kVA have a 5-year standard warranty. The warranty starts when the unit is sold, but we understand proof of purchase can be misplaced. In that case, the serial number can be used to determine UPS age.

3. Find your serial number

The serial number should be located on a sticker on the back or side of the unit. You can also locate the serial number on the rating label on your UPS. The exact location varies slightly depending on the UPS model. See the UPS rating label examples below.

If your unit has an LCD screen, the serial and part numbers can be found by navigating to “identification” on the display. Once found, use the fifth character to determine the set of instructions to follow.

5. Keep this information on file

Now that you have decoded your serial number, we recommend you store this information in a safe place. Please also document the contact information for Eaton customer support.
