Operational Resilience from cyber security threats has become a critical topic for risk managers exploring mitigations strategies as well as innovative risk financing solutions. This session will share underwriting and technical expertise from insurer HSB, a highly rated insurance company specializing in cybersecurity and equipment breakdown insurance. This session will compare and contrast IT and OT risks and risk management, examine new concerns surrounding artificial intelligence and machine learning and discuss best governance practices for critical infrastructure resiliency, punctuated by real-world threat examples, and actionable recommendations for thoughtful risk transfer and safeguarding of critical infrastructure.
Darlyn specializes in complex classes of risk in the manufacturing, IT/OT cyber and technical services sectors and works directly with OEMs in the production-related ecosystem. She has 27 years of experience in the insurance industry including extensive experience in property and casualty insurance broking, underwriting, product development, agency distribution, programs sales, risk management and claims litigation. In 2024 she was named to the Adjutant General’s Homeland Security Civilian and Military Advisory Committee on OT Cyber Security for critical infrastructure resiliency.
Paul manages the risk profiles of data centers--including cryptocurrency mining-- telecommunications, and electronic technology, and biotechnology for HSB. He is focused on the impact of cyberattacks on those profiles, both from a cyber damage and physical damage point of view. Paul has been in the IT Technology business for over 46 years including a 36-year career at IBM, where he held multiple technical and management positions, including managing a group developing PKI solutions for payments and certificate authorities.
Wes is a General Manager at Microsoft where he has been instrumental in advancing the company’s cybersecurity initiatives, particularly in enhancing the security of cloud services and enterprise solutions. His leadership has contributed to the development of innovative security technologies and strategies that protect Microsoft’s vast ecosystem of users and partners. Before joining Microsoft, he served as the Chief Information Security Officer at Phillips 66 and held various positions at ConocoPhillips where he led efforts to strengthen their cybersecurity frameworks and protect critical infrastructure.
With 20 years in the Oil & Gas industry, he has held a variety of technology and leadership roles supporting business enablement across E&P, Refining, Midstream, and Fuels Marketing.
