Eligible projects: Improvements related to enhancing airport safety, capacity, security and environmental concerns. In general, sponsors can get AIP funds for most airfield capital improvements or rehabilitation projects and in some specific situations, for terminals, hangars and nonaviation development.
New program provides $1 billion annually for five years through competitive grants to improve terminal building, traffic control tower and on-airport rail access projects

Eligible projects: On-airport rail access projects, relocating, reconstructing, repairing or improving an airport-owned traffic control tower, increase capacity and passenger access; projects, replace aging infrastructure, achieve compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and expand accessibility for persons with disabilities, improve airport access for historically disadvantaged populations, improve energy efficiency, including upgrading environmental systems, upgrading plant facilities, and achieving Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accreditation standards, improve airfield safety through terminal relocation, and to encourage actual and potential competition.
